My name is Nala Mateza. I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I am one of Mandela's Children. I have looked up to Nelson Mandela for a very long time.I started this site as a sort of online discussion platform, to try and inspire others. I also wanted to see in what ways other people, not only in South Africa, but across the world have been inspired by Nelson Mandela. Mandela sacrificed more than a lifetime in the struggle for freedom in South Africa. Subsequently he was jailed for 27 years in order to realise his dream of a non-racial South Africa. In South Africa we are all indebted to this man. Indeed if it wasn't for him, this blog would not exist.
Yes he was not alone in this struggle, many, many others died without ever having seen the dream of a non-racial South Africa come into fruition.
It is very sad that recently many of his biological family have been involved in a very ugly, public and bitter fued or dispute. Perhaps they are preparing for when he has finally left this world. I feel it should have waited at least he is in the ground before they squable over what shall remain. I guess even Mandela's family is human.Nevertheless I wanted to imprint in the minds of everyone in the world of what a special man Nelson Mandela was and continues to be. Mr. Mandela belongs to each and everyone of us, we are all children of Nelson.
As the great man struggles with his health, lying in hospital, I want to help keep his light shining as a beacon of hope to all the oppressed and downtrodden people of the world. Also that we may never forget his and our long walk to freedom. Nelson Mandela's work is afr from done.It is now up to us, all his children all over the world, to continue his fight for equality and justice. I therefore welcome and invite everyone who visits this site to contribute in any way that they can to help continue his dream and maintain his legacy. Aluta continua!
I talk not of financial contributions alone, although these will go a long way to helping the millions of poor people who still exist in this world, but words of wisdom and acts of kindness towards our fellow men, women and children. Please join me on this journey that I have undertaken. Feel free to share your thoughts, feelings, frustrations and plans for the future. What are your visions and aspirations for the future? What does Nelson Mandela mean to you, and how can we continue the work that he has started? How, if at all, has he inspired you? How can we as all Nelson Mandela's children help to make a betther world, where everyone has equality, freedom and justice?
